Hepatitis A + B

The combined vaccine provides protection against both hepatitis A and hepatitis B.

About Hepatitis A + B

When to get vaccinated: - Ideally, at least five weeks before departure.

Course:
The number of doses required depends on your age and travel plans. You may need three or four doses for full protection. Our pharmacist will determine the best schedule for you.

Accelerated course:
In some cases, a fast-track schedule may be an option.
This involves:
- Three doses before travel
- A fourth dose 12 months later for long-term protection
- The second dose is given one week after the first, and the third dose follows two weeks later.

Boosters:
Once the full course is completed:
- Protection against hepatitis A lasts for 25 years.
- Protection against hepatitis B lasts for 5 years.
- A booster may be needed if you remain at risk after this period.

How it's given: - Administered via injection in the upper arm.

Side effects:
- Very common: Mild pain or redness at the injection site.
- Common: Fever, headache, or digestive discomfort.

Children: - Suitable for children from 12 months of age.

Additional precautions:
- In hepatitis A risk areas, maintain strict food, water, and hand hygiene.
- If traveling to regions with limited medical facilities, carry sterile needles and avoid piercings or tattoos.
- Always use protection during sex to reduce the risk of hepatitis B infection.
